Welcome to Junky Monday Roundup. Here is where I dish on the best junky finds after a trip to my favorite shopping place. The curb. One man’s trash is this chic’s treasure and I’m bringing it to you every week. Stick around until Transformation Tuesday to see how I glam the stuff up.
Last week, I took a Junky Spring Break. And by that, I mean I hit up the thrift store with all four kids, because there is no space in the van to junk with all four. I am clearly a glutton for punishment. However, I scored big, so come back on Thursday for my thrifty rundown of other people’s stuff.
This week, the curbside junk provides as it always does. Here’s the skinny:
1. Swanky Chair: Princess calls this chair a barbershop chair, but I call it swanky. Sure, the pleather leaves little to be desired, but with the right fabric, she can look like the diva she really is. The base is beautiful solid wood and smells to be 20 years old. At least. I love the smell of really old wooden furniture. I know. I have more issues than vogue.
2. Swivel Lamp: I haven’t even plugged her in to see if she works yet. If not, the base will become a pretty finial piece and will strip down the shade to the metal to make a cool funky chandelier or wind chime.
3. The Spool: Granddad always had these repurposed into tables when I was little. He was a super handy guy and had access to loads of them at the phone company he worked for. One end is a hot mess, so using as is won’t really work. However, if I lop off both sides and trim it down, it could be transformed into a super cool side or coffee table. OR, I could make it into a storage piece which I dig.
4. Water Table: Ok, this one is really for the kids. It just needs a good cleaning and will be ready for splashing on one of our many future scorching hot days.
That’s it for this week’s roundup. It just goes to show, one man’s trash, is this chic’s treasure and today I am a rich girl.
