Tranformation Tuesday: Making Over Monday’s Junk {A Sweet Nightstand & Major Frame Lot Makeover}

Welcome to Transformation Tuesday, a place where Monday’s junk is transformed into glammed up treasures.  Today, we have sweet, sweet Jane the nightstand and a plethora of frames desperate for a makeover.Transformation Tuesday: Making over Monday's junky finds. ohmygluestick.com

Frames:

A sweet friend was cleaning out her mama’s house and was just about to lose her mind with all the junk that was still left after the hauls and hauls her husband had made to the local charity organizations.  She called her junky friend {me} and asked if she wanted any of it.  I took most of what was left including this lot of old, outdated frames.  With just a little color and some imagination, I turned them into functional little mini message centers, wipe away boards, and corkboards.  They are so cute with the mix of wood, metal, glass, cork and burlap.  The kids laid their claim to a few, but the rest are up for grabs!

Night Stand:

How to makeover an outdated nightstand into a gorgeous farmhouse side table. ohmygluestick.com

Many moons ago, I found this night stand and it sat in my front “project” room for months.  It’s quite embarrassing actually, but I just couldn’t for the life of me, figure out what color to do.  I wanted turquoise, but also old white and definitely wanted a dark wood top.  With all those components, I made it happen and almost didn’t list it.  However, in the end, I have more furniture than I can handle and listed Sweet Jane for sale.  She sold within the first 15 minutes.

Message Boards

See #2 and #8?  They were transformed into something much for modern, striking, and functional.  See them now!  All it took was some paint, chicken wire, and elbow grease.  Chicken wire it a beast to work with.

The nightstand and large message board was done with my easy chalk paint recipe.  Surprisingly, I spray painted the other frames with cans of spray paint I had on hand.

Easy Chalk Paint Recipe:

2 cups latex paint

6 TBSP Plaster of Paris

3 TBSP water

Mix water and Plaster first until smooth. Mix in paint until smooth. Store leftovers in airtight container for up to a week. (I’ve started keeping it stored in mason jars which keeps for quite a long time. Just shake now and again).

That wraps up this installment of Transformation Tuesday. As you can see, I try to keep as much as I part with. Such is the life of a junker like me.
