Welcome to Transformation Tuesday, a place where Monday’s junk is transformed into glammed up treasures. This week, I’m featuring three sweet little pieces that got a drastic makeover and look like a million bucks by spending just a few.
First up is this little lazy Susan jewelry hanger. I saw it at a local thrift store and it was one of the reasons I had gone pickin’ that day. I wanted an organizer for all my many bracelet and thought this might work. It was 4.99 and that didn’t hurt.
You may remember it from that funky bunch I dug out of storage a few weeks ago.A client wanted her the perfect shade of grey and she is just as lovely as ever. She got the royal treatment and was distressed to perfection in all the right places.
Last, I took some old ceiling fan blades and a chair leg to make a little yard art with the kids. They mostly watched, pointed, and gave their two cents. I did all the grunt work.I attached the blades to the back of the chair leg with gorilla glue and secured with wood screws. Then, I painted and antiqued the blades with turquoise paint and walnut Minwax stain. I finished off the leg with a nice coat of stain to give it a richer finish. Once dry, I covered the whole thing in poly and hung it up for our enjoyment. The light was working against me, so it looks super dark here, but is just as pretty as you please. The kids and I talked tonight about adding in some bright pops of colored rings on the center piece to make it more vibrant.
That wraps up this installment of Transformation Tuesday. As you can see, reclaiming tossed out treasures and making them my own is a passion. With a little imagination, you can makeover just about anything. Stay tuned for my next segment of Transformation Tuesday or click here to see past transformations.
